The Old Greer's Grocery Building

Constructed in the 1930s, this Art-Deco informed corner store was built to house a Greer’s grocery. Autry Greer founded the Mobile-based chain in 1916. The company is now in its fifth generation of family ownership. This neighborhood store was designed by Nicholas H. Holmes, I, the first of a three generation Mobile architectural dynasty. Housing multiple and successful business enterprises, the property is exemplary example of adaptive reuse. Fuego now occupies the building and serves up the best coastal Mexican cuisine in South Alabama.
